Before beginning, make sure to set a prayer space for your family gatherings. Set a space that encourages the family to sit close together so that it’s easier to have meaningful conversations and prayer time as a family. It’s a good idea to have sacramental objects out, such as, rosaries, holy water, medals, statues, images of Jesus and the Virgin Mary, Bible, Cross, etc.
Family Huddle: Go around and have each member share their answers to following questions:
Affirmation: Each student will stand and repeat the following:
Prayer: Take a moment of silence and together pray the prayer on Page 59
Icebreaker: After prayer, have the child color the image of the Last Supper on page 60.
(Turn on Spotify or YouTube with a few Worship songs in the background)
As a family, watch video lesson 2.2 from Fr. Andrew:
(Families are encouraged to read through pages 62-65 but it is not required. The video covers the main points of this section.)
After watching the video, complete page 71 Check Your Understanding.
Ask your child to complete Page 66 Do this in Memory of Me.
Take a moment to do the Car Conversation section in the book on page 72.
On page 60 Last Supper coloring sheet, as a family write down a few ways you can better prepare for Mass and ways in which you can fully participate at Mass.
Closing prayer - Pray the prayer on page 73. (Remember to do the Sign of the Cross before and after the closing prayer).
End the gathering by offering a sign of peace (and a hug) to one another.
Bonus:
Write a note to Fr. Andrew and/or Fr. John to let them know you prayed for them. :)
