Family Time:

Today we will learn more about the seven sacraments. The sacraments (an outward sign of God’s love and blessings) help us to be close to Jesus and receive God’s grace (a free gift of God’s life in us). 

Opening Prayer:

(Together, make the sign of the Cross) In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Parent: Close your eyes and take a moment to think of someone you want to pray for. (Pause)

Together, let us pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come, they will be done

on earth as it is in heaven. 

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, 

as we forgive those who trespass against us; 

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 

Amen.

Families, together read through pages 99-105 together before watching the video. Questions at the end of each page are to be shared in the discussion questions portion below.

After reading pages 99-105 and watching the video, together answer the Check Your Understanding questions in the book on pages 106-107.

Discussion Questions:

1. Why do we need the Sacraments? 
2. How can we prepare our hearts to receive Jesus in the Eucharist? 
3. How does the Church bring us God’s love? 

Closing Prayer:

Close in prayer by having everyone read together on page 111. (Remember to do the Sign of the Cross before beginning to read the prayer and then again at the end). 

End the gathering by offering a sign of peace (and a hug) to one another.
